Winery Notes: Langhorne Creek is one of Australia's most ideal climates for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and has the oldest recorded Cabernet vines in the world. A deep ruby red welcomes the eye and entices the palate. The classic Cabernet core of focused blackcurrent fruit is offset by notes of cedar with hints of cardamom, tobacco and licorice spice. The unituely inviting texture of Langhorne Creek Cabernet is accentuated by fine-grain tannins. A long, savoury finish rounds off this beautifully balanced red.

Ben Glaetzer is responsible for these wines...say no more... Heartland makes its wines and Ben Glaetzer makes his home in Barossa Vintners in Tanunda. Some people are surprised to learn that grapes from Langhorne Creek are fermented and matured one hundred kilometres away, but to us this is not just natural; it is the best possible solution. Barossa Vintners is the first of its kind. Conceived as a state-of-the-art winemaking facility with the capacity to make wines for a core group of top end producers whose fame and demand had grown beyond their winemaking capacities. Completed in 1995, Barossa Vintners was developed by these industry leaders to minimize labour needs in the winery and make wines in the most natural possible way. The natural slope of the land allows the winery to be gravity fed and avoid harsh pumping of the grapes and juice. At the centre of all this is Ben Glaetzer, the winemaker at Barossa Vintners, with all the conceivable equipment and resources he needs to create the wines he wants. This is where Ben crafts. This is where Heartland wines are made.
