Chardonnay

The hugely popular and widely planted variety can be a hit or a miss, but we hope to pick all the hits so you wont have to miss.

The variety is early budding and ripening, easy to grow and best suited to soils based on limestone or calcareous clay (like that of Champaagne, Chablis and the Cote d'Or). There are great examples of Chardonnay around the world; from the USA to Australia, New Zealand to Italy... and lets not forget France! It's ease of growth makes it very appealing, but also it's ability to be made into various styles depending on the winemakers preference. You can see Chardonnay as big, rich and buttery, but also lean, mineral and flinty. It's one of the most interesting and versatile varieties in the world - everyone's having a go!
