Winery Note:

SPECIES OF VINE: Nebbiolo, Michet and Lampia varieties. 
VINEYARD: different vineyards in Bussia (Monforte d'Alba). 
HARVEST: manual, with grapes selection in the vineyard. 
TIME OF HARVEST: mid-October. 
VINIFICATION: red, with skin soaking inside stainless steel vats. 
VINIFICATION TIME: the must stays on contact with the skins for 6 to 8 days and it is further drawn off; finally, the alcoholic VINIFICATION gets fully complete. 
VINIFICATION TEMPERATURES: from 26 to 28 degrees centigrade. 
CELLAR REFINING: the new wine, after spending from 5 to 6 months in stainless steel vats and being transferred several times, is poured onto "barriques" (barrels), where it remains for about 18 months and, finally, it will be bottled. 
NOTES: the grapes used to make "The Favot" come from vineyards which have undergone periodical implantations, and so have a maximum age of 15 years. The skin soaking is limited to 6-8 days so to extract few tannins and more colour from the skins themselves, with the result of getting a well-coloured wine with a remarkable softness. The barrels used are 100% made of new wood.

Winery Notes:

Our family represents the heart of all our activities. 
Five generations of people who devoted their lives to wine have instilled in our souls a deep respect for the identity of our territory and a firm characterization of our products. 
What we want to offer is simply the interpretation of a terroir through our deep rooted beliefs. 

The farmhouse "Poderi Aldo Conterno" is situated in Bussia, in the village Monforte d'Alba, which is the very heart of the typical Barolo wine area. At present, the farm, which vinifies exclusively its own grapes, Consists of about 25 hectares of vineyard. Most of the ground, Which is at an altitude of about 400 m. above the sea level, is located South South-West and it is made of blackberries or less compact sand layers of grey-brown colour alternated with white and bluish calcareous marls. 

Our cru vineyards Romirasco, Cicala and Colonnello located in Bussia of Monforte d'Alba, portray the real expression of the Langhe terroir. Their fabulous South South-West location enhances the nobility of the clayey-calcareous soil, rich with calcium carbonate and iron, typical of our hills. Our family has always had a relationship of perfect symbiosis with these cru, trying to enhance their most peculiar characteristics through a wise and hard work in the vineyard. With the passing of the years we created a real microcosm which sinks its essence in the subtle balance offered by nature. The wine of these cru gives itself with firm determination by playing on the most classical elements of the Nebbiolo vine and its spicy notes give a crystal idea of the uniqueness of this soil. The interpretation of a territory goes along with the perfect knowledge of its components; that circumstance can become true only after a long and careful study of the components. All this has Always Been Within our intentions, enabling us to find out the fundamental connections which, thanks to the hard work in the vineyard, are the basis of the unmistakable identity of our Barolo wines.
