Importer Note:

From certified organic vineyards in the lower part of Puligny-Montrachet, grown on clay and sand. Direct pressing, into old burgundy barriques. Fermentation very slow, and lasted til the following spring. Elevage for one year, and the wine spent a month in stainless steel to settle (and not become too warm) before being bottled with 20mg/L sulfur. No other additives at all. 12.5% alc. On the nose - honeysuckle, white blossums, yellow fruits and nougat - all characteristics quite refined though. The palate is textured and creamy, sunshine and lemon. Full mid, gentle acidity and a very long finish. Well balanced, considering it was a warmer vintage. They say most winemakers added acid to lift their wines and more sulphur to give the wines a backbone - Paul and Willy (the AMI winemakers) wanted to show exactly what the vintage was like, and so the wine is what it is - an excellent entry level, and really good value. Still good 10 days later….
