One of the richest Austrian whites I've tasted. Rich, viscous, honeyed and rather developed, with a nice balance of acidity. It has layers of complexity built by oxidative handling in the winery and low yielding vines in the vineyard. Super tasty and a perfect match for those richer fish dishes.

Importer Note:

Grape varieties: 80% Grüner Veltliner and 20% Riesling
Origin: all grapes used are growing in the vineyards in or around the village of Strass. Some of these vineyards have been planted recently while others mainly consist of old vines.
Vinification: big wooden barrels and stainless steel vats

Importer Note:

Martin and Anna Arndorfer are, without question, one of the most exciting wine couples in Austria and are making wines of marked distinction…
They produce a small amount of wine from the hills in the Kamptal, and also own vineyards on the most famous sites in this region, namely Gaisberg and Heiligenstein.
Martin says “We have different soils in the region, like primary rock – good for Riesling – or loamy soils with sand or gravel – good for Grüner. The climate is excellent, because we get some warm winds from the Pannonian stream but also cold air from the continental stream.”
