Montevecchio Rosso is a co-fermented field blend made from a collection of loveable, red Italian varieties. This wine includes lagrein, nero d’Avola, sagrantino, schioppettino & refosco; an unlikely yet delicious bunch! Aromas of vibrant raspberry and purple fruits are balanced perfectly with refreshing acidity. This light to medium-bodied wine has plenty of supple fruit, soft tannins and is designed to be enjoyed young. - Winery Note

Winery Note:

The Chalmers family’s commitment to innovation and excellence has made them a pivotal force in the Australian wine scene for almost 30 years.

Their work in the field of alternative, particularly southern Italian varietals - in both the vineyard and marketplace - has been a substantial contribution to the growth and success of this movement in recent years.

Improving Australian vine material stocks is an ongoing passion for the family, with a new shipment of previously unavailable Italian vine selections including Falanghina, Pecorino and Ribolla Gialla having been received at the vineyards in 2015.

The Chalmers range of Italian variety wines, which includes Vermentino, Fiano, Rosato, Nero d’Avola, Aglianico and Sagrantino, is made with sustainability, diversity, authenticity and quality at the core of it’s philosophy.

The Chalmers family also produce Montevecchio wines, a line of fun, everyday-drinking Italian style field blends as well as Le Sorelle Shiraz and Arturo Malbec from their Heathcote plantings.

Continually exploring new territory with the creation of project wines, in recent vintages Chalmers have made a passito dessert wine, a dry sparkling red lambrusco and a rustic vino nuovo.

Most recently the nursery block at Merbein has given rise to the small batch, handmade Chalmers Project & #bucketwine vinification project which is exploring grass roots winemaking with no tools, additions or filtration.

These wines are the result of years of experimentation and refinement, from the soil to the bottle, Australian wines which proudly display their continental heritage.
