"This is a wine that rewards some time left to develop in the bottle but if you are like me you probably bought the damn thing to drink it now so give it a good decant before you splash it into you mouth. Nice dried cherries on the palate and the nose with herbal undertones, lithe, fine-boned tannins and dancing acidity that lingers long...a cracking vintage from Freeman and well worth the price." - Chris Foster

Winery Notes: "In a generous glass this mid-weight wine displays enveloping aromas of dried cherries mingled with earthy, mushroom notes typically associated with classic Amarone wines. These traits extend onto the palate – savoury, complex and textural with a soft tannin frame and balancing acid, ensuring this wine will evolve with added maturity.”

FREEMAN SECCO RONDINELLA CORVINA

The philosophy of the fermentation is to develop a wine style reminiscent of the traditional Italian Ripasso and Amarone red wines that is complex and savoury while also retaining characteristic Australian fruit-driven flavour.

Part of the crop is dried on prune racks and then mixed with the fresh, undried grapes. All the grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The cap is managed by pumping over and the wines are pressed when fermentation is complete. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation and is then aged in five- to eight-year-old barrels before bottling in Spring.
