Beautiful aromas of raspberry, strawberry, flint and red flowers. Bright, ripe and juicy with excellent intensity and a fine-grained texture to its red berry flavors. Mineral quality keeps the finish light. Although this is an entry-level wine made from grapes from different  parcels that Giuseppe won’t use for his crus, it is remarkably delicious and balanced. A portion of the fruit comes from vines planted in 1908 and 1948, and that might explain why ‘a Rina is always deeper and richer than other entry-level wines from Etna. It is aged for 14 months in barriques that are used two or three times. - Importer Note

Since 2005, Giuseppe Russo has been organically farming his family's old vineyards, where many of the vines are around 100 years of age, and he is restoring the old cellar under his house. He has 15 hectares of vines on the Northern side of Etna around the town of Passopisciaro - considered the best part of the volcano for viticulture - and still sells off fruit from the youngest vines. He was part of the early wave of producers recognising the potential of the region, the indigenous varieties and traditional wines, and today makes some of the greatest wines on Mt Etna. - Importer Note
