I like the complexity in Michael Hall’s quality Roussanne With initial fresh floral lift, peachy and pear richness, then minerality and acidity dropping in beautifully.  Texturally you may think it is going to be weighty, but the good acidity changed that initial impression of a rich style - it is not heavy. And, as happens with complex Roussanne, maybe you will see the dominant flavour change fleetingly as it opens or warms in the glass. Freshness can go missing in some Roussanne – not this warmer climate (Barossa) beauty. - Michael L

Michael came to Australia on a student visa back in the early 2000's and stayed. He graduated with top marks for Wine Science from Charles Sturt Uni in 2005 and embarked on his vinous journey working for some of Australia and the world's best winemakers. He has settled in the Barossa Valley where he produces wines from Eden Valley, Adelaide Hills and the Barossa regions. He is a self-professed wine nerd and his wines are terrific. Good soil moisture and gentle ripening temperatures combined to provide ideal vineyard conditions. Schutz family and friends handpicked this low-yielding and early vintage on 20 February. Whole-bunch pressed, 11 months on primary lees in French oak barriques, 12% new (Damy), racked to tank, fined and filtered.
