This is the first wine released by Petrichor Wines. Made by Thomas New and Tim Hodgkinson from a single clone (d2v5) sourced from a single vineyard located in Tea Tree, Coal River Valley, Tasmania.

Please note that as this fruit was sourced locally and from a minimal chemical input vineyard. This wine is not Biodynamic.

The one tonne of fruit was hand picked then hand loaded/unloaded and hand de-stemmed retaining the whole berries into the fermenter (40% whole bunch…basically because our hands couldn’t take any more de-stemming). The fruit was cold soaked for almost a week before wild fermentation kicked off. Gentle hand plunging during the extended fermentation and then basket pressed once the wine had fermented ‘dry’. Moved by gravity to older french oak barriques the wine was left for 10 months on lees. Minimal Sulphur. No Fining. No Filtration.
