In recent times I have found myself really enjoying whites with characteristics like chardonnay, except I just think they are not. They have some subtle, but important differences. Sure the fruit and sometimes oak or lees use suggest chardy; but then there is a fineness of feel from great acidity and hints of spice or green leaf on the nose. Many times these whites turn out to have a big swig of Savagnin - like this Sentio. 90% Savagnin, 10% Arneis; it is long, clean, has good texture & some power. 12.8% alc. Great with white meat or even pre or post dinner. - Michael L

Winery Note:

Aromatics of sweet pear lift strong fennel and subtle floral elements. Interesting spices come through with time in the glass. The wine creates intrigue in the palate. The textural elements from Savagnin can be somewhat uncompromising. It’s got a lot of power tucked in there. The grip comes first, closely followed by viscous fruit carry. The acid at the moment is finishing a close third. It’s a wine that hangs around for a long time on the palate. The phenolics are almost saline. A food matchers delight.
